I don’t really have any reason for wanting to write this post other then sports are one of the passions of my life and I felt compelled to put forth my two cents on a few different goings on in the sports world.

Let me start with horse racing, I think that it is was awesome that Big Brown’s trainer was talking so much smack the only problem I can see with it is that his horse got it’s hind quarters destroyed at the Belmont stakes!!!  Not only did Big Brown lose, but he came in dead last.  If he wasn’t such a big strong horse you can bet that he would be glue and dog food before the day was done.  (Peta don’t be mad it is the cirlce of life, train, race, lose DIE)  Big Brown was not only supposed to win, he was supposed to win big that is why Hooterssponsored him.  if I am not mistaken he is the first horse to be sponsored before a race by hooters or any company for that matter.  I think maybe he was distracted by the blonds that were petting him the day before.

I was watching UFC 85 last night and I must say this was by far one of the most exciting fight cards I have witnessed in my UFC watching career. (Yes I do feel I should be paid for watching it as religiously as I do.  I noticed a couple things, one I think that if you are going to talk your trash after a fight and ask for a title fight that you should try to make weight first.  Yes I am talking about Thiago Alves.  This guy goes into the fight having weighed in at 174 lbs when he was supposed to be 170 lbs.  Being a professional Matt Hughes chose to fight the man any way.  Now what we must be aware of is that after weigh ins you tend to put on a few lbs before the next days fights (water weight) so Alves a big man on his own probably weighed upwards of 183 lbs in a fight he is supposed to weigh 170.  Secondly, it takes a lot out of you to lose the weight when you are supposed to drop 15 lbs. so you can fully expect that Alves was probably alot fresher having decided to not fully drop the weight.  Matt Hughes tends to sit right around his fighting weight so he doesn’t have to drop weight.  At the end of fight interview Thiago asked Dana white for a title fight, if I am Dana White I would tell him no until he gets disciplined enough to make weight.

That is it for now!
