Iphone iblog

I sit here in my car at 606 am est waiting for someone to open the building I work in. Not that I am excited to actually work but rather because I had to drop me room-mate/friend off early. I decided this would be the perfect time to post the first blog from my iPhone. It is harder then I would like but I am getting pretty good at typing on this thing. My topics are, fighting, work and who knows what else!

Word on the street is Rampage is out of shape and still beat jardine. This is a scary thought because “the dean of mean” Jardine is a great fighter and if you can beat him you gave a chance against any one if you are in shape. The Evens vs Rampage fight should be a beauty!! Frank Mir has postponed his death sentance with lesnar do to surgery he just had on his knee. Kind of a bummer that he just can’t seem to stay healthy for very long.

I was talking with a great friend of mine (www.bretttilford.com) and we were discussing the possibility that “the word” (the bible) could be… …more of an alogorical book (especially earlier books like genesis) One of the topics we discussed was the talking snake we find in chapter three. Was there really a talking snake? Was there really a tree or specific garden? Or is it possible that genesis is written to show the choice man has in his/her life? We have come to the conclusion that we are just unsure of the answer.

For those of you who do not twitter I would like to announce something very important, I the author of this post, am engaged to be married to my beautiful and awe inspiring fiancée, Cat!! I am very excited, it will be a longish engagement because wecwant to wait until I am out of the Marines to get married, I am so stoked!!

OH Dear!

I figured it was high time I got some time in on the ol’ blog.  I haven’t written anything in some time and I can’t say that I have been too busy.  I have merely had nothing I felt like putting into words.  While I have little to say at this time I feel it is high time I wrote something for my readers… …all three of them!  (Thanks Lover!).  First of all a few shout outs to my peeps!

I have  a few friends that are always looking for ways to change the way we do things on the Internet, From creating high quality web addresses, to this new thing that is launching in a few weeks.  This is called Nectar.  I would tell you what it is but why listen to me, as my friend, one of the masterminds of this en devour, and one of his partners in crime explain it on tasty logic.  Great stuff.  To get updates you can look at the blog site for Nectar here. Over the last couple of weeks I have started watching some vlogs.  for those of you that don’t know what a vlog is here is an example.  My friend Josiah, has started some of his own and I must say, they are funny!  Here is a taste.  I would suggest watching the birthday one, it is great!

Oh, and did anyone see Kimbo “I can’t fight, never could, shouldn’t be allowed to degrade the MMA world that Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Henderson, Randy Couture and countless others made such an amazing sport, and I should just stop know and go back to being a bouncer at a Porno Club!” Slice totally get his faced beat in for 14 seconds against a Scrub Fighter.  ( I don’t even know his name, me, the guy who watches every fight he can, reads every story, and studies this sport with the enthusiasm of a 2 your old trying to get at his/her birthday cake).  Kimbo, if you can read this, stop fighting, unlike Brock Lesner, who has shown he belongs, you fight in a chump league, with chump fighters (no Offense Mr. Shamrock- I do appreciate you being willing to go down a few levels in order to show the world that Ho bo, I mean Kimbo, is a chump!) go back to bouncing, I know a club that needs a big scary guy… …err, well wait, get your eye taken care of first!

Exciting Entertainment news!

Well this may not be news to many of you, but I have just recently read that Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd, Nightmare before Christmas and many other great films) will be directing and producing “Alice in Wonderland” with the one and only Johny depp(Sweeney Todd, Pirates of the Caribbean and What’s eating gilbert grape) as the Mad Hatter!  I am very excited about this up coming film, it is set to be released in 2010, I believe sometime during the summer!

I just Kant understand

Read that today while I was sitting in my office doing nothing.  it is out of the “Fundamental principles of the metaphysic of morals.” By Immanuel Kant I found it to be interesting my first thought was that this guy was nuts, I had read his works before, but it had been a while and I had read it under the influence of a “Bible Beating” mindset.  I found now that when I read it, while I don’t agree, it was at the very least and interesting concept.  It seemed to say that you are either born with good will or you are not and that everything else is determined by such circumstances.  I am still a believer, for those of you that might question, but my walk is far different. I refuse to blindly accept everything as the “Truth” based on “Faith” with no other evidence for it, but rather I am now in a place where I question everything.  One of those is whether we are truly born inherently born “sinful.”  I know that there is plenty of evil in the world.  But there were also plenty of people that were just as good, as some are evil.  I am really not sure where I am going with this, but to say, is it really impossible that some truly want to do good from the start? Just something to chew on!

A whole new world

and a few new thoughts. 

Here i sit in my room… …my room ha, that is a funny phrase to use when your room consists of a bathroom, a sink complete with mirror, a shower, 3 wall lockers, 3 secretaries, 3 beds and two roomates!  My room, maybe I should call it my communal room that is oft inspected by angry persons higher in rank then myself!  But I digress, no why did I get on this blog today?  Hmmm.. …good question.  I really had nothing of substance to say before I logged on, which is sad to say with so much going on in the world, forget the world right here in the great US of A!  We have the Republican convention and the official announcement of Sn. John Mccain as the presidential nominee for the republican party.  Who just so happened to name Sarah Palin as his running mate.  This should be huge on my mind, but it really is not.  Oooh Oooh, I know Russia vs. Georgia (no, not the state) that should be on my mind after all I am in the military.  But it is not, Russia will eventually bow to the will of the rest of the western powers so there is little to no threat there. 

So why the apathy?  The verbal lethargy? No idea.  I decided long ago that I wouldn’t allow my blog to be one of mindless drivel with the occasional injection of witty commentary.  No my blog is to be thought provoking, funny, charming, daring, in your face and capable of creating great controversy.  Okay so a quick recap of what has been written on this blog:

6 posts on fighting, 3 posts on military life, 3 posts on religion and 3 random category posts.  I am into fighting but really nothing that is peaking any ones interest (see comments or lack there of) , I am in the military and this seems to be a point of interest… …er to some.  religion, is a touchy subject, but I just haven’t done enough of my homework recently to really give it a good effort which is partly why only one of those posts is all on religion.  Enough about that, let me get into something of more substance. 

AHHH, now i remember why I got on here, I was driving today and I saw one of my favorite people of all time.  I don’t know him personally, that is to say that I have waved a few times, honked twice and said hello once.  But his dedication to his… …lifestyle should be applauded if not followed.  He is called the Jacksonville ninja.  The workoutis incredible(the first 30 seconds of this video are graphic in language, You might want to skip)! OH and did I mention his dance skills are beyond compare!

For the record he is one of the nicest people you will meet, always ready to smile and give a wave.

newest thoughts and rants!

I have been doing a fair amount of thinking since I started my blog, most of my thoughts have been on what on earth am I too blog about.  When I was on the outside looking in I always figured that I had plenty to say, cause I do and I am usually quite the loud mouth.  But once you get close to time to hit that “publish” button suddenly a terror hits, “is what i am about to talk about really that important that I need to publish it so that the whole world has an opportunity to read it?”  I asked one of my friends who is a blogger and he said, when asked what I should blog about, “Everything.” was his quick and very enthuesiastic reply.  He went on to explain what he meant but really that is what you write about. No subject, no thought, no discovery not even the newest commercial is off limits in this no holds bar world of blogging.  Instantly after I discovered that I wanted my blog to not fit the mold of everyone eles’s I wanted it to be very disctinctly me.  That is why at times it looks like I am writing for the local sports section.  Sports are a passio of mine so I am certian while I have written about them a few times there will be more.  This blog however may and should be very interesting I have a few things I want to rant about, a few things I want to rave about and I am sure there are some topics some where in between. 

Rant- I am tired of the “Christian” thoughts that no other religion holds any merrit or any amount of truth or value.  Tell me what the world be like if we had the patiance of Ghandi, the Devotion of the muslims, the work ethic of the mormans (giving up two years of their lives for their missions)?  I tell you one thing I can’t imagine we would be in the world we are now, i would be willing to guess that many things would be changed.  “Oh no, is he talking about tolerance?”  Call me a blasphemer, call me a heretic I don’t care what you call me, I have been called worse I promise you (Don’t forget dear reader I am in the Corps!) 

Rave:  Anderson the Spyder Sylva, is the best fighter in the world POUND FOR POUND.  I don’t care what class he fights in he is un-beatable when he fights his type of fight.

Todays Top Five

This does not mean that their will be a top five again tomorrow or the next day or ever, these were simply my thoughts on today.

1.  Chelle you have never made me prouder!!! For those that didn’t see her comment, “All you need to know is tito is a Douchbage.”  Great!!

2.  I realized something today this instant and by this instant I mean about 5 minutes ago but I was to busy talking to a friend to bother writing my new epiphany down.  Let us hope I remember the whole thing.  I was thinking about my life and wondering how it has changed.  Why I was thinking that I am unsure, but one thing I was sure of is that it had indeed changed.   Here is what I have compared 17 in high school to 24 in the Marine Corps:

17 in HS-  My friends and I were cool jr highers not so much

USMC Life-  My friends and I are cool and boots (new marines) are not

   And that is as far as I got!! I have found myself in the same situation I was when I was a JR in HS.  HAHA, funny

3.  I wanted to take this opportunity to show a better side of the Marine Corps.  Let me walk you through my day today. 

    0700 My alarm goes off I turn it off roll over and begin to lay there debating whether I should get up and eat morning chow.  This seems like an easy choice but that is because you haven’t received chow from this chow hall.  Eggs made to order which means you order them, they pour them out of a milk carton and you get whatever they felt like making.  Ask them for egg whites only and you get looks as if you just referenced their dear loved ones death or something.  Bacon that is saturated in grease so much so that they shake it out in order to give you the “driest” piece and french toast that is harder then your average NHL hockey puck! So you obviously see where the dilemma was, I did indeed go, and it was delightfully disgusting!  Then I sat in my room and waited. I was supposed to work on the next level of my martial arts program that the corps has, but no one showed up, to include the instructor.   At that point I got tired of waiting and decided to do some training of my own.  I began to play Grand Theft Auto IV.  Yeah, I beat it, what can I say.  I then went to lunch were I was offered an assortment of greasy foods along with a slender piece of chicken and some jello.  1300 I decided I should at least get a workout in, so I went with three of my buddies to the pool were we engaged in a  60 min workout.  It was great especially the cool down which was the four of us falling asleep in the lounge chairs around the outside of the pool in the sun.  At about 1500 we decided it was time to call it a day and went back to the barracks where we immediately let ourselves off work.  These are the days I love my job!

4.  I heard that when you joined the military you should always be ready to move.  Since I have been back in Virginia I have changed rooms 3 times, and had 3 different sets of roommates.  I thought they meant state to state, I was not under the impression that it was room to room.  Is there a certain quota that they are required to meet?  “you must have 17 moves each year in order to fully have full filled your commitment to the military.  (then in the fine print) must be atleast two doors down from your previous room)

Couple quick notes

1.  Kimbo Slice is a joke.  Yes yes, he could woop my ass but only cause he weighs like 50 lbs more then me.  But if you watched his fight you learned two things, one he can’t really do anything on the ground if he were to fight a Randy Couture or a Jeremy Horn he would be submitted in no time, and second he has to be the ugliest person in MMA!!

2.  Rambo 4 was far better then I thought it would be, sure I am behind the times, but I saw it for the first time today and it is by far the best.  Granted that isn’t saying to incredibly much, but still give the 57 Sly a break.

3.  Gina Carano is pretty much a BAMF.  If anyone saw her tear apart Caitlin Young last night they would have to agree.  I mean hell her nickname is Crush on American gladiators (which is actually pretty damn good-okay good is not correct but it is entertaining). 

4.  Did anyone else see Dana White talking about the MMA world and more importantly did you see him rip, and I mean rip the Elite XC for putting up a “a poor display” of what MMA is all about.

5.  If you haven’t read A New Kind of Christian then you should pick it up, B, you were absolutely right, I am just over half way and it has brought tons of questions and some great answers

7.  You are probably tired of reading my numbered posts, I assure you there will be more, but not for a little while

8. Finally,  there are plenty of things I am passionate about, my beautiful Girlfriend, my wonderful family and Sports.  The sport I am most into right now is MMA (see numbers 1, 3 and 4).  Here is why I like it, first it isn’t as boring as boxing.  I can hear it now, “Heretic!!  How can you dog the sweet science.”  But come now first of all were are the real contenders? they don’t exist.  Since Tyson lost his mind, Lennox lost his heart and Holyfield lost his ability there have been no heavy weights.  Sure you say those ruscis are pretty BA fighters, but they haven’t done anything, and everytime some flash in the pan shows up they lose.  ‘But Floyd Mayweather is the savor of the sport.” Oh right, and I am the second coming of Rocky marciano!  Floyd Mayweather has beat the only legit contenders in his weight class.  Ricky Hatton and the 2000 year old golden boy.. ….what is his name Oscar de Lahoya.  Secondly.  the reason boxing sucks now is that they allow so much hugging, if I wanted to watch grown men hug I would go to the Tool Box on 5th ave in NYC!  they should lose points for all that hugging.  Here is why MMA is a better product (please note that I am referring to all of the groups signed under Zuffa). 1.  It is constant action, when there is a lull they are stood up and started again.  2.  there are more legit contenders with 100s more showing up ever day.  3.  It is a faster paced event which is exactly what we desire and crave in this generation.  4.  finally, and this is for all you mothers and safety queens, it is safer.  Sure it seems brutal but there have been no deaths and no serious injuries in MMA in the last 15 years.  Football has close to at least one paralysis a year and I believe badmittion is up to two eye losses a year.

Opening Day

I am new to the world of blogging so for thsoe of you that stumble across my blog and are veterns bare with me as I get my rookie feet wet.  I havn’t much to say in this my first blog, but I will start by introducing myself.  My name is Brandon Montgomery, I am 24 years of age, I am in the Marine Corps, I have a beautiful and incredibly intelligant girlfriend (which if you ask me is an amazing combination) and I have a wonderful family.  But enough about me, let’s get on to what this web log or Blog is going to be about.

It is simple really, whatever I want.  Some of my posts may be in response to other blogs I have read, some might be new ideas, no not neccissarily new to the world, but new from my mindset.  I think this should really be a pretty good time over all.  I have multiple friends that blog and I really enjoy reading their thoughts.  To be honest the main reason I started was because I feel that I have plenty to say and plenty of thoughts.  Now I won’t promise you… …ha, that cracks me up, who am I talking to this is my very first blog, I don’t have an audiance yet! does that make me insane.  Dont’ insane people talk to those that aren’t there but I digress, which brings me to my final point about my blogging, be ready for many rabbit trails and moments of digression.
